The Ceres Institute

Ceres staff have provided education and training in many different forms for over twenty years.  Staff have taught university classes, developed certificate programs, and led participatory action research projects grounded in critical pedagogy.

The Institute offers seven month online programs and summer intensives that combine online coursework and coaching sessions with week-long in-person convenings. The Institute is based in Lisbon, Portugal.

Program Evaluation Certificate Program

Ceres has over twenty years of completing community research through program evaluations, community needs assessments, and funding portfolio impact assessments for funders. We have recently developed three certificate programs that will increate participants’ research capacity while also providing rigorous reports that can be shared with community stakeholders, elected officials, and board members.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Certificate Program

This certificate program aims to share the lessons we have gleaned over the past twenty years on how to successfully lift the leadership of people who have been most impacted by systems of oppressions. Participants will leave the course with tangible management tools that will transform the way they recruit, retain, and promote people from Black, indigenous, enslaved, and colonized communities. They will also leave with a strategic plan for structurally decolonizing their current power structure.

LGBTQA+ Youth Data and Policy Certificate Program

For the past fifteen years, Ceres has trained over 30 probation departments, youth courts, and youth-serving organizations on how to best serve system-impacted LGBT youth. We are currently partnering with the Center for Juvenile Justice Reform at Georgetown University on a new certificate program.
