Needs Assestment of Girls at Risk of Detention

The Girls' Task Force (GTF) of Santa Cruz County was organized in order to assess and address the needs of girls at highest risk of entering detention.

The GTF began a formal needs assestment of girls in April 2005. The needs assestment was designed to measure where girls in the county perceive gaps in services related to physical and mental health, as well as social services.

The GTF needs assessment was developed collaboratively by Ceres Policy Research, task force members, and girls residing in detention. After Santa Cruz County Probation interns collected data from 218 alternative education students Santa Cruz County, Ceres Policy Resarch analyzed the data and provided a summary of the findings to GTF members.
