Program Evaluation

In March 2002, Dr. Irvine completed an eighteen-month evaluation of a health access clinic for youth located in north-east London. As principal investigator for this research project, Dr. Irvine designed a multi-method evaluation that documented the formation of drop-in health clinics for youth. This evaluation also measured short-term gains in youth well-being using a combination of surveys and youth interviews. Dr. Irvine supplemented data collection through participant observation. That is, Dr. Irvine worked in one of the drop-in clinics as a youth worker as well as a coordinator for the youth leadership council for the program. In this capacity of youth council coordinator, Dr. Irvine led youth through the filming and editing of a video about the project. This video project allowed youth to create their own evaluation of the program, in their own words.

After returning to California, Dr. Irvine continued to write conference papers for this program.
